The Murph Challenge; Phenomenal Workout, Great Cause was held over Memorial Day weekend at the River Valley Club, and thanks to my daughter Victoria for alerting me and bringing my son Steve along with her. Together, they went through the paces to raise money for the cause. The Murph Challenge is the Official annual fundraiser of the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation sponsored by Forged. It was started by his family and is “committed to keeping Michael’s life, service, sacrifice and legacy alive as well as that of his SEAL teammates”. The Murph Foundation.
Lt. Michael P. Murphy was posthumously awarded the Medal Of Honor for his courageous actions and dedication to his fellow seals. Lt. Please note that although this post is not specifically wrestling related, it’s a great workout and a testament that you don’t need fancy equipment to get a great workout. All you need is the desire to succeed, and the willpower to push yourself hard!
The workout is simple but grueling and the goal is to complete the program in progressively better times while wearing a twenty pound vest. Fifty or so athletes of all levels of ability participated to raise money for the foundation.
River Valley Club
The “Murph” was held at the newly renovated River Valley Club, a beautiful facility in Lebanon, NH which houses tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a daycare center for mom’s peace of mind, spa, salon and a boatload of training equipment with a compliment of trainers ready to put you through the paces. Fortunately, the weather gods smiled upon the day and the event ran smoothly. Thanks to RVC for hosting the “Murph Challenge”. For more information about the club, click the link above.
